Systems Biology
- Dr. David Luther was awarded a collaborative grant with Virginia Tech to study the impacts of conservation actions on the population trends of endangered species.
- Drs. Monique van Hoek and Barney Bishop were awarded a collaborative grant with James Madison University to study antimicrobial activity in the bedbug, Cimex lectularius.
Civil, Environmental & Infrastructure Engineering
- Dr. Deborah Goodings was awarded a grant to create a summer recruitment program for future civil engineering graduate students.
Environmental Science and Policy
- Dr. Changwoo Ahn was awarded a grant to study patterns of hydrology, plant community and soil biogeochemistry to restore ecosystem services at Huntley Meadows Park.
Geography and Geoinformation Sciences
- Drs. David Lattanzi and Laura Kosuglu were awarded a grant to develop civil engineering course modules utilizing 3-D printing technology.
- Dr. Paul Houser was awarded a grant to develop a multi-disciplinary George Mason Water Forum web site.
Mathematical Sciences
- Dr. Evelyn Sander and Dr. Chris Manon were awarded a collaborative grant with James Madison University to redesign Calculus I and III using mathematical software and 3-D printing technology.
- Drs. Padmanabhan Seshaiyer and Claudette Davis were awarded a grant to conduct a STEM Boot Camp to engage incoming STEM majors.
Office of the Provost
- Dr. Andrew Wingfield received a grant to lay the groundwork for a new Center for Sustainable Solutions (CSS) at George Mason.
Proteometrics and Molecular Medicine
- Drs. Lance Liotta, Virginia Espina, Cara Frankenfeld and Amy Vanmeter-Adams MS, were awarded a grant to support the 2014 Mason Aspiring Scientists Summer Internship Program (ASSIP).
- Drs. Virginia Espina, Lance Liotta, Alessandra Luchini, Claudius Mueller and Amy Vanmeter-Adams MS were awarded a grant to create an interactive, enquiry-guided course to enhance STEM retention.
The Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation and The Mason Accelerator Program
- Drs. Padmanabhan Seshaiyer, Reid Schwebach, Karen Dalfrey and Alonso Aguirre were awarded a grant to conduct a summer Governor’s School program at The Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation.
